ABOUT URBAN GREEN LIVING'S FOUNDER, PETER STEUDLE
Pete Steudle was born in a house that was built around him as he
grew. His German father a carpenter and cabinet-maker by trade,
gave him the taste and attitude for building that's meant to last
and be a source of pride.
Childhood was spent on building sites. Ever resourceful, nothing was bought new, preferring to recycle bits and pieces (usually things from the tip) into something useful again.
Chemical Engineering beckoned as a career, spending 20 years designing and constructing projects, and investigating different technologies in the Petrochemical industry. He also spent a few years selling and marketing a range of chemicals to the paint and adhesives industries.
Pete travelled a bit, married and started a family. The old building bug returned and in his spare time he renovated a rundown California Bungalow, then converted an old inner-city printing factory into a three level home and office.
It was during this latter project that he began to explore and apply new technologies and learn about sustainable practices and products. Interest transformed into a passion.
Pete's engineering skills helped him understand the details of energy saving technologies and sustainable building methods. His comprehensive chemical knowledge raised concerns about the health of those that worked with him and their exposure to the myriad of chemicals in modern day building products. Pete searched and found truly sustainable products such as those based on plant matter sourced from organic farms, rather than on toxic petrochemicals.
After this long journey he sat down and thought 'What next'? Why
not put it all together? Urban Green Living is the result.
